The Irish Times teams up with Deezer for On The Record radio channel

9 Nov 2012

On The Record, Jim Carroll’s popular music blog on IrishTimes.com, now has its own curated radio channel powered by Deezer.

The radio service comes as a result of a media partnership between Deezer Ireland and The Irish Times, and will be available for free on all Deezer platforms and on IrishTimes.com.

A dedicated player is embedded in the right-hand column of the On The Record blog on IrishTimes.com, but can also be launched in a pop-up window from the Culture section on the site.

Deezer is approaching its first anniversary in Ireland, having launched in the country last December. By teaming up with the online radio service, Radio On The Record can potentially reach listeners in the 160 countries where Deezer is available via its website and mobile apps.

Carroll, who just wrapped up his weekly radio slot on Dublin-based radio station Phantom 105.2, will select all songs to be played on Radio On The Record, updating the playlist every Wednesday afternoon. In a blog post announcing the radio channel, he invited users to make requests – provided the songs are available on Deezer.

“An OTR radio channel is long overdue and it’s great to be able to use Deezer to provide this,” said Carroll. “As readers have come to expect from the blog, they can look forward to a wide selection of new and old music across all genres on the OTR Deezer radio channel.”
