Short-form video-sharing service Vine is to mirror other large-scale social media outlets by adding a new feature that allows users to follow their favourite profiles.

Similar to the way Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr operate, Vine users will now be able to follow accounts they like by tapping a star in the top right corner of the profile to make them a favourite.

Upon doing soon, users will receive a push notification every time a favourite posts a Vine. The video will also appear in the user’s activity feed.

“We all have accounts that we love to follow and whose Vines we don’t like to miss,” wrote Vine engineer Felix Fung in a blog post. “Now, you can select your favourite accounts to be sure you see Vines from them.”

Users can update their list of favourites from settings within the app at any time.
