ERMAHGERD! - It's the viral videos of the week

We take a look at some of the most-viewed and most-shared videos on the web. This week, a popular meme gets it’s own pop song, a flash mob that all started with a Big Bang!, we shamefully promote the ‘C word’, reaching the halfway point of Movember, and more good news for the Irish gaming community.

More than 72 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute, 500 years of video watched on Facebook every day, and more than 700 YouTube videos shared on Twitter each minute, ensuring there is always video trending on the web.

With so much video available for viewing, we take a look at some of the viral videos that have caught our eye this week.

Gersberms (Yer Gervin Mah) – HnP ft. HAYLEY WILLIAMS and SWEDISH CHEF

If you are unfamiliar with the ‘ermahgerd’ (oh my God) meme, you can read up about it here. The meme features a photo of a young woman holding several books from the children’s horror fiction series Goosebumps, leading to the word ‘gersberms’ being coined as well. This week’s viral video centred around the meme belongs to, ahem, ‘Hard ‘n Phirm’ who sing an entire, nonsensical song based on the terminology the meme has generated. The song even has a brilliant cameo from Muppets favourite – Swedish Chef! And who says all hip-hop songs sound the same, eh?

The Big Bang Theory Flash mob!

I’ve never seen the point of flash mobs, personally. Something that is supposed to be the pinnacle of ‘randomness’ and ‘spontaneity’, but takes months of planning and choreography. Then again, I’ve never been called anything other than cynical (well, anything I can print anyway). Although you can see the promotional benefits when such an event goes viral. This week, it is the cast and crew of hit CBS show The Big Bang Theory who break into a dance to Carly Rae Jepsen’s summer smash – Call me Maybe.

John Lewis Christmas Advert 2012 – The Journey

Yes, the ‘C word’. It’s OK folks, we checked. Any time after Halloween is acceptable, right? John Lewis really has this season nailed, doesn’t it? Every year the company produces the best promotional adverts for the festive holiday (2011 and 2010 adverts), which people seem to look forward to as much as the holiday itself. Proving this year is no exception, its new ad has gathered nearly 2m views at time of writing and Christmas is still a month and a half away!

Your Mo Will Get Fuller with Nick Offerman

You may remember a couple of weeks ago we featured a video featuring Nick Offerman giving some manly encouragement for Movember. Well, the Parks and Recreation star is back again (along with some members of The Office cast) to ensure all of you who may be feeling a little self-conscious about the thin beam of hair above your lip. But don’t worry, your mo will get fuller!

We wish the very best to all of you involved in Movember.
