We take a look at some of the most-viewed and most-shared videos on the web. This week features some incredibly dumb ways to die, finding out if we will ever run out of new music, what you can do with 1,400 bags of leaves, how a dog might text, and what if Felix Baumgartner was from Cork?

Dumb Ways to Die

What do taking your helmet off in outer space, keeping a rattlesnake as a pet and selling both kidneys on the internet have in common? Well, according to this viral video from Melbourne Metro, they, along with plenty of other equally silly things, are dumb ways to die. This catchy tune is part of a safety message warning people to be safer around trains – with more than 1m Facebook shares in the last seven days, we think people are getting the message!

Will We Ever Run Out of New Music?

It is something I have pondered many times before, with all the recycled melodies and ‘remixes’ out there of old songs it certainly feels like we’ve run out of new music to publish. The guys at VSauce (again, we’re major fans) break down the numbers of how many possible songs we could ever produce. It turns out Justin Bieber has at least one more album left before it becomes a reality *sigh*.

World’s Biggest Pile Of Leaves

The autumn/winter seasons are a great spectacle for people who love the colour the leaves turn, but what about when they fall off the trees? The love seems to drain out of people when the leaves are blowing all over the street, decomposing. Well, these guys have found a way of having some fun with dead leaves. Gathering more than 1,400 bags and piling them high, they hoped to have the world’s biggest pile of leaves. What else would you do then, other than jump off the roof of a house into them – cannonball!

Texts from Dog – Episode 1

What started as a few fictitious iPhone conversations between a dog and his owner on October Jones’ Tumbler blog Text from Dog quickly turned into one of the most viral pages on the internet. The texts from dog idea has now been turned into an animated series, with the first episode airing on YouTube this week, courtesy of The Poke.

Felix the space jumper is from Cork  **warning – contains bad language**

It was the first thing everyone thought as soon as Felix Baumgartner jumped from his flight pod: I wonder what he would have sounded like if he were from Cork? (Well, I did, anyway). Thankfully, this week we get to find out exactly what it might have sounded like. Giving a shout-out to Neil Prendeville, Roy Keane and KC’s Chipper (I was always more of a Lennox’s man myself) before launching himself out, Felix, the Corkonian, glides to earth and nails the landing – not a bodder, like!
