We take a look at some of the most-viewed and most-shared videos on the web. This week features Cinderoncé, a magic beard, a news blooper, a fairly decent proposal, an acrobatic baseball pitch, and a broadcaster laughing in the face of grumpiness.

About 100 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute, 500 years of video watched on Facebook every day, and more than 700 YouTube videos shared on Twitter each minute, ensuring there is always video trending on the web.

With so much video available for viewing, we take a look at some of the viral videos that have caught our eye this week.

Grumpy Cat vs Karl Stefanovic

Grumpy Cat was typically unresponsive to the questions of interviewer Karl Stefanovic when she recently appeared on Australian morning TV. Stefanovic was excited enough for the pair of them, though, and eventually cracks up in the face of Tard’s grouchy puss.

Why you shouldn’t bring your kids to work

Kids today may be au fait with smartphones and that there internet, but some, like the daughter of Moroccan news anchor Lena Alwash, may need to be familiarised with the concept of live TV. Alwash, however, remains a true professional.

Wasp cuts bee in half

At first, the man behind the camera doesn’t know what to make of this tussle between a wasp and a bee and then, the horrific truth becomes apparent. Moral of this story: wasps are pure evil.

Tae-Mi’s first pitch

Baseball isn’t really South Korean actress Tae-Mi’s sport of choice; she’s more of a taekwondo girl. It shows in her spectacular first pitch at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul before the Doosan Bears game, which has been watched over 2m times already.

Rose of Tralee proposal

This year’s Rose of Tralee did more than just prove to us that the Harlem Shake is over (though that did no harm to winning Texas Rose Haley O’Sullivan’s prospects), it also brought us a cringey public marriage proposal. It must have hurt the guy to hear so many ‘No’s, but we’re pretty sure that New Orleans Rose Molly Molloy Gambel really meant ‘Yes’. If not, it’s okay: he’s got tissues.

Cinderoncé

Todrick Hall, an American Idol semi-finalist turned creator of viral videos, follows up his reimagining of teen movie Mean Girls with a modern take on a classic fairytale. ‘Cinderoncé’ tells the story of Cinderella entirely through tracks from Beyoncé’s back catalogue. With epic costuming, a wicked diva stepmother and a fairy drag-mother, this video is as fabulous and glamorous as Beyoncé herself.

Magic beard

Award-winning photojournalist Ben Garvin’s beard is magical. It puffs up, combs itself, does most of the removal work itself and can be used to store crayons and various vegetables. What fantastical facial hair!
