Viral videos of the week: puppies, space photography and Coachella’s lying music fans

We take a look at some of the most-viewed and most-shared videos on the web. This week features some bare-faced lies from Coachella, more deceit from RTÉ News, Daft Punk as you’ve never heard them before, a lesson in space photography, puppies struggling with stairs, and the reason why you should never send a superfan to do an interview.

More than 72 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute, 500 years of video watched on Facebook every day, and more than 700 YouTube videos shared on Twitter each minute, ensuring there is always video trending on the web.

With so much video available for viewing, we take a look at some of the viral videos that have caught our eye this week.

Lie Witness News – Coachella 2013

The ‘Lie Witness News’ segment on Jimmy Kimmel Live took to the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in sunny California to ask festival-goers if they were looking forward to seeing a bunch of acts that were made up. The bare-faced lying from these music fans is both hilarious and cringeworthy – but keep an ear out for the one real band name that gets a mention.

The song, released on 19 April, has proven immensely popular, breaking Spotify records and topping iTunes charts worldwide along the way. But what’s the secret to this song’s success? Superfan of The Rock does worst interview ever

Wherever your interests lie, you might know Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson as star of The Scorpion King and GI Joe: Retaliation, the face of this meme, or as the most electrifying man in sports entertainment (World Wrestling Entertainment, that is). Nick Mundy, however, knows him as his own personal hero and, when sent to a press junket to interview the man himself, he could hardly contain himself.

Chris Hadfield’s snapshots from space

We’ve been thoroughly enjoying International Space Station commander Chris Hadfield’s stunning photos from space, which he shares regularly on Facebook and Twitter. We’ve seen what places around the world look like from on high, in light and in dark. The Canadian astronaut has also shared many photos of Ireland, featuring Dublin, Belfast, Cork and many more. In this video, he gives us a space photography tutorial so we can see how he manages to capture these images, 400km above the Earth, travelling at 8km per hour.
