Zynga Game Studio Operations COO to speak at next Dublin Web Summit

9 May 2011

Marcus Segal, the COO of Game Studio Operations of Zynga, the self-propelled start-up that brought the world FarmVille and Mafia Wars, is to speak at the next Dublin Web Summit in Dublin.

Marcus Segal is set to be a keynote speaker at the Dublin Web Summit (DWS) summer BBQ on 10 June at the RDS.

Zynga is one of the most influential new gaming companies. The company has followed in the footsteps of a number of international gaming firms by setting up its European operations in Dublin.

Segal heads up operations at the billion-dollar social gaming company responsible for the hugely successful FarmVille and Mafia Wars games.

Segal will speak about Zynga’s tremendous growth since its foundation in July 2007, company’s ability to captivate an audience and drive revenue.

Dublin wants to be the European capital of gaming

As Dublin aims to become the European capital of gaming Segal will no doubt be able to shed light on how Ireland needs to respond to the needs of game developers and publishers.

“Ireland has said it wants to become the gaming capital of Europe,” Dublin Web Summit organiser Paddy Cosgrave said.

“It’s important that we really listen to companies like Zynga, who are the next wave of gaming. Social gaming really is big business and could certainly provide huge numbers of jobs if Ireland gets its strategy right,” Cosgrave added.

Segal joins Morten Lund, one of the first investors in Skype, who will also be speaking at the upcoming summit.
