Learn the language: What code should you learn? (infographic)

1 Oct 2014

SQL, Java, Ruby, Python and more – with so many programming languages in existence, which one should a would-be coder learn? It depends on its use, reveals a new infographic about the languages.

The infographic by whoishostingthis.com looks at PHP, Java, JavaScript, SQL, Objective C, C++, Python, Ruby, ASP.NET, and Ajax, provides a brief description of the language, what it can do, ‘tidbits of wisdom’, and facts and figures about jobs in relation to particular languages.

For example, chip giant and Siliconrepublic.com Featured Employer Intel uses Python, which can render a coder an average annual salary of US$83,000.

The infographic even charts online resources individuals can use to teach themselves how to code.

Coding, as Who is Hosting This points out, isn’t just about creating a finished product. “Understanding how programming works teaches computational thinking, logic, and problem-solving skills, which can be applied in any field.”
