App creator and CEO of Casey Games Jordan Casey
Not one for sitting still, 13-year-old Waterford coder Jordan Casey, who became famous as one of the youngest app creators in Europe, is back and about to launch a new cloud app aimed at teachers to help them easily manage information about their students.
We caught up with Jordan at this week’s Dublin Web Summit.
He explained the TeachWare app is nearing completion and enables teachers to easily manage all the information about their students, including absence, exam results and templates for making tests and report cards.
Inspiration came at the end of last year’s school term, when he saw a teacher endeavouring to gather all of this information in a big black book.
Jordan, the CEO of Casey Games, first came to our attention just over a year ago when he published his first game, Alien Ball Vs Humans on the Apple App Store. An article about Jordan on Siliconrepublic.com led to JWT inviting him to be a guest panelist at the Cannes Lions Festival for Creativity in Communications last June.
It was while at Cannes that a representative for Brazilian advertising agency Fabrica Brasil approached Jordan and asked him to develop an Android game called Save the Day to mark International Children’s Day in Brazil.
Since then, Jordan has been hard at work with UK coder Aidan Blackett to develop what is one of the first virtual worlds to emerge out of Ireland, Food World.
Jordan is constantly in demand as a conference speaker. Over the past few months, he has spoken in Germany, England, France and India.
In May, he spoke at the prestigious 20th TiEcon conference in California, where he imparted the lessons of a CEO to the CEOs of LinkedIn, Amazon, Netflix, PayPal and many others.
