TEDGlobal in Edinburgh will be broadcast live in The County Library in Tallaght on 13 July. The theme of TEDGlobal 2011 is ‘The Stuff of Life.’
From 8.30am to 8pm, a series of 18-minute TEDTalks will be shown there, discussing subjects from the biological processes of the body to the technologies and resources that make life easier.
Guest speakers include historian Niall Ferguson, sand artist Joe Castillo, poverty economist Karol Boudreaux, roboticist Péter Fankhauser and anti-torture activist Karen Tse.
Visitors to The County Library can drop in and out as they please.
The aim of TED is to bring the brightest minds together to give “the talk of their lives.” The best of these conferences are put online for free. More than 900 TEDTalks are online, with more added each week.
Past speakers at TEDTalks include Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, Google CEO Larry Page and former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates.
