As part of its draft bye-laws that are going on display this week, Ennis Town Council wants to place two free electric car charging points in the Co Clare town for motorists.

The town council has prepared the draft On-Street Pay & Display Bye-Laws 2012 in relation to the control and regulation of the parking of vehicles within the town boundary of Ennis.

Other proposals in the draft bye-laws include the introduction of a 10-bay bus parking facility in the town.

Mayor of Ennis Councillor Peter Considine said the proposed electric vehicle charge points would encourage road users in the county to think of opting for electric cars as an alternative to petrol or diesel vehicles.
