ESB welcomes today’s announcement by the Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) to end regulation of residential electricity prices offered by its supply business ESB Electric Ireland from 4 April 2011.
Over the past two years, strong competition has developed in the residential electricity market. The ESB reports that almost one-third of consumers switch their supplier more than once.
ESB Electric Ireland said it looks forward to providing greater choice, value and innovative solutions for modern energy consumers.
ESB chief executive, Padraig McManus said, “This is a significant milestone for ESB enabling us to actively compete in the residential market. Our newly branded supply business, ESB Electric Ireland, is focused on offering greater choice and value, providing the best products, services and advice to customers.”
“ESB has over 80 years experience and expertise in the Irish electricity market and values the trust we have established with our loyal customers. We look forward to continuing to satisfy their changing energy needs,” he added.
The ESB has recently launched various innovative offerings, including the Meter Reading App, Online Store, Energy Saving Wizard and HALO Installation Services and will be entering the residential gas supply market in the coming weeks.
