Fancy transforming yourself into Barack Obama, Cheryl Cole, Simon Cowell or Adele, albeit virtually? Well, a UK company has come up with a new app called VIP ME, which uses real-time face detection and face tracking technology to do just that.

Fair enough. The company behind the app is Noise, a London-based firm that designs platform-agnostic apps, games and services for mobile devices. It was commissioned by Channel 4 to create the app to coincide with the launch of its new celebrity impression show called Very Important People.

The company said today that the app works when you look into your computer’s webcam so, if the mood takes you, you can choose to morph your face via augmented reality into a celebrity. Then you can record the video of your ‘new’ self and share it on your Facebook Timeline.

Apparently, Noise developed the augmented reality app using Beyond Reality Face technology.
