The Channel Islands saw Ogier open the world’s largest and greenest single-occupancy building in Jersey yesterday.
The BREEAM specification offices boast desirable terraces front and back, overlooking St Aubin’s Bay and St Helier, with water-efficient appliances installed throughout, leak detection to avoid waste, high levels of insulation and heat recovery systems, together with measures to reduce car use.
Ogier’s offices will facilitate more than 500 people with room for future growth, the company said. With a floor area of about 100,000 sq feet, the spacious building is the first in the Channel Islands to meet the Building Research Establishment Environment Assessment Method (BREEAM) specification, which sets the standard for best practice in sustainable design.
Commenting on the move, Ogier CEO Nick Kershaw said: “The opening of our new Jersey office is testament to our approach and commitment to provide the highest quality, integrated and independent legal and fiduciary services to our clients. The new office in Jersey sends out a message that we are a responsible and forward-looking business, embracing the latest technology and environmental standards; we are a top 5 private sector employer in Jersey and having world-class facilities will help underscore this position.”
