Science Foundation Ireland winners announced

Winners of this year’s Science Foundation Ireland’s Science Summit have been announced.

The Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, Conor Lenihan announced that Prof Jean-Pierre Colinge of Tyndall National Institure, Cork, as the winner of SFI’s Researcher of the Year award 2010.

The announcement was made during the event which took place in Athlone.

Exceptional research

Lenihan said that Prof Colinge had achieved ‘exceptional scientific research ouputs’ in his field of semi conductor research.

National University of Galway’s Prof Malini Olivo was also awarded for her entry in the SFI Research Image Competition.
