As part of its VentureLabs accelerator, the NDRC is calling on science-based start-ups to take part in the programme and has promised €100,000 in funding to accepted applicants.

The accelerator is targeted at enabling ventures that are commercialising science, tech and intellectual property with high potential for success.

NDRC will begin to make investment decisions starting in December 2014 with the six month acceleration programme beginning in early 2015.

Most importantly, each new business taking part will receive investment of up to €100,000, coinciding with today’s announcement by Science Foundation Ireland for their new funding investment of €245m that will be used to establish five new world-class SFI research centres that will support up to 700 researcher positions.

Speaking ahead of the information evening at 5.30pm on Wednesday, 22 October, NDRC CEO, Ben Hurley said: “NDRC VentureLab will benefit anybody who has developed technologies or has engaged in science-based research that has an opportunity to be directed towards a commercial solution. Through our investment and the related programme NDRC provides mentoring, business insight and commercialisation expertise that will progress ventures to a stage where they are investor-ready.

He continued: “In particular, NDRC VentureLab is deeply experiential which means that the entrepreneurs and researchers behind science-based ventures receive the necessary guidance to prepare them for market entry.”

Attending the event in The Digital Exchange on Crane Street, Dublin 7, will also be a number of the SciTech Ventures that have already taken part in NDRC programmes will be on hand at the information evening to discuss their experiences.
