Enterprising seminar gives inventors business ideas

A new series of free one-day seminars aims to help small businesses and inventors get their ideas off the ground.

The Patents Office, in co-operation with The Enterprise Europe Network, Enterprise Ireland and the County & City Enterprise Boards, has launched the one-day seminar series, which are aimed at small businesses, entrepreneurs and inventors.

The first seminar will take place on 16 November in alliance with Dublin City Enterprise Board. Attendance is free but people must register beforehand. The event will run from 9am-4.30pm.

Focus areas

The Building a Business on Your Ideas’ seminars will focus on:

  • How businesses should be aware of and can exploit the value of intellectual property, ie, patents, trademarks, designs and copyright)
  • The support structures available for small businesses and start-ups from the State and Europe.

Expert speakers from the private sector will include a patent attorney, a representative from ‘Technology From Ideas’, a representative from the industry, research and development group and a local entrepreneur.

Speakers from the public sector include representatives from the Patents Office, Enterprise Ireland, the County Enterprise Boards and the Enterprise Europe Network.
