A Dublin-based software development company that has released a series of iOS book apps based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tales has raised €750,000 in funding from AIB Seed Capital Fund and €250,000 from Enterprise Ireland.

The investment on behalf of AIB Seed Fund was managed by Enterprise Equity Venture Capital.

Ideal Binary has produced at least two iOS book apps – Rumpelstiltskin and Red Riding Hood – and three apps in its 3D classic literature series. The immersive e-books are designed to be enjoyed by children on iPad, iPhone and Mac devices.

Gaming industry supremo Barry O’Neill has joined the company as CEO.

Ideal Binary is the creation of two brothers, Aidan and Kevin Doolan.

According to the company’s website, Ideal Binary’s PopIris engine “is a ground-breaking development environment which allows the team to rapidly prototype, develop and publish rich ‘PopUp’ books featuring interactivity, games, puzzles and other innovative features. Ideal Binary is interested in hearing from brand owners, book and game publishers and other content holders with exciting brands that could be licensed for use with its engine.”
