WonderVoice, a start-up from Tel Aviv, Israel, was at the Dublin Web Summit this week where it launched its voice-powered, hands-free app for Facebook. Siliconrepublic.com talked to the company’s founder Gal Melamed about the new app for iOS devices.

It has been described as the Siri for Facebook, but what exactly is the new WonderVoice app that’s aiming to bring voice integration to the social networking platform?

According to Melamed, the app has been designed to allow users to interact with the social networking site without having to touch their mobile device on occasions they are engaged in other activities, such as jogging or cooking.

He claims the app’s voice platform is the first to offer a personalised bi-directional social radio from a smartphone. As a patent-pending technology, WonderVoice, it seems, will allow users to vocally interact with Facebook newsfeeds, as well as music and location-based content.

Melamed said the start-up is working on bringing WonderVoice to additional social networks, such as Twitter and LinkedIn.

The start-up is also working on an Android version of the app, which is currently available for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and iPhone 5.
