Online behavioural and wellness technology player SilverCloud has forged a strategic partnership with global medical and education publisher Wiley.

The partnership will see the creation of a comprehensive range of therapeutic programs across behavioural health and long-term chronic disease management to be delivered via SilverCloud Health’s award-winning cloud-based technology platform.

The first set of programs, to be released in 2015, will address Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Diabetes, conditions that affect more than 40 million people in the United States on a daily basis alone.

“The integration of behavioural health and physical chronic disease management remains a complex process for clinicians and patients, and SilverCloud recognizes the need to provide tailored programs across multiple condition areas,” explained Ken Cahill, SilverCloud’s CEO.

“The global acknowledgement of Wiley’s high quality and efficacious content makes them an ideal content partner for SilverCloud Health.”

SilverCloud emerged from a seven year research project at Trinity College Dublin before becoming a three year translational research project undertaken jointly by the NDRC (National Digital Research Centre), Trinity College Dublin, and Parents Plus, Mater University Hospital in Ireland.

The company includes Investec Ventures, AIB Seed Capital Fund, Enterprise Ireland and the NDRC.

“Our partnership with SilverCloud Health will facilitate those dealing with behavioural health challenges and physical chronic diseases management, such as diabetes, to have easy access to expert resources to help them manage their conditions,” said Joan O’Neil, vice president and managing director of Knowledge Services at Wiley.
