Business mobile service Blueface is teaming up with Carphone Warehouse to launch a new competition for start-ups and those with business plans to pitch their ideas. Seven finalists will be selected to compete for €50,000 in prizes in July.

Blueface CEO Alan Foy said the Blueface Elevator competition is open to Irish start-ups and businesspeople with innovative ideas in any sector.

To apply, people have to submit a 100-word overview of their business ideas.

“Companies must be less than five years old and any products or services being pitched must either be in beta or have spent less than one year on the market,” he said.

Start-ups will then make three-minute business pitches to a panel of judges at various Carphone Warehouse stores around Ireland between June and July. The seven finalists will then head to Carphone Warehouse on Grafton Street in Dublin City on 14 July for the finals.

Foy said the finalists will be competing for €50,000 in prizes. This will include telephony services from Blueface, mobile handsets and tablets from Carphone Warehouse, advertising from Newstalk 106-108FM, PR assistance from Heneghan PR and legal advice from Mason Hayes + Curran.

The closing date for initial submission is 20 June. Interested potential participants should email elevator@blueface.ie.
