Six Dublin businesses have been shortlisted for this year’s AIB JumpStart 2013 competition. Entries were up 30pc on last year, according to the Learning and Innovation Centre (LINC) at the Institute of Technology Blanchardstown.

The six companies are Performance Metrics Ltd, Cortechs, My Money Platform, Lucky Sods, Beat Your Manager! Fantasy Games Ltd and Creeper Crawlers. The value of the JumpStart 2013 prize is €25,000, sponsored by the LINC, AIB and FCEB.

The prize includes €2,500 in cash for the winning company plus the cost of the incubation space for 12 months, the varied and fantastic mentoring support available to the company from industry experts and a range of useful business start-up packages.

The AIB JumpStart 2013 shortlist will be judged on Thursday, 14 November.

The entrants will go before a panel consisting of Bobby Kerr, chairman of Insomnia Coffee Company; Louise Phelan, VP, Global Operations EMEA, PayPal; Ronan Foley, manager, AIB; Lorraine O’Mahoney, Allied Irish Bank; Oisin Geoghegan, CEO, Fingal County Enterprise Board; and Declan Lyons, technology infrastructure programme manager, Enterprise Ireland.

“We have had the highest number of applications to date for the AIB JumpStart competition this year,” LINC manager Assumpta Harvey said.

“We are delighted to have six finalists of such a high calibre and are looking forward to the live pitch event, where the winner will be chosen,” she added.
