SOSV’s Slingshot: Dublin start-up mentoring event launches 23 October

20 Oct 2015

The SOSV Slingshot: Dublin mentoring event will be given its official launch on 23 October with the aim of being an education day for early-stage founders.

Slingshot: Dublin is expected to cover the basics of getting a start-up off the ground – including issues like investment, scaling and branding –so that early-stage Irish founders can get up and running rapidly.

The whole-day event will be a mix of practical workshops and theoretical sessions, starting with the Founder Finance 101 talk to inform attendees of what the tricks of the trade are for getting a start-up’s finances in order.

Afterwards, there are plans to have a mentor speed-dating event and a chance to meet some of the mentors who will be on hand to help start-ups develop their ideas.

The list of mentors will include Bill Liao of SOSV, Siliconrepublic.com’s CEO and editor-at-large Ann O’Dea, Kim Pham of Frontline Ventures and Eoin Costello from Startup Ireland.

The day will then wrap up with a look at some of the funding models that have become popular for early-stage founders – including accelerators – and a look at how it is possible for Irish companies to start building their brand globally and create a scalable product from the get-go.

The event itself will take place at the NDRC offices in the Digital Exchange on Crane Street, Dublin 8, with free tickets available from Eventbrite.
