Global project management company PM Group has invested in an end-to-end data centre infrastructure delivered by Dell.

PM Group employs 1,600 people worldwide and invested in the new infrastructure to match the company’s continued growth.

“We have continued to grow internationally over recent years,” Niall Twomey, group ICT manager, PM Group, explained.

“This has meant that our data storage requirements have expanded and our overall IT management has also become more and more complex.”

PM Group completed a File Simplification Assessment with Dell. With the results from this assessment, Dell organised a storage focused workshop to outline its Fluid Data architecture – a mantra which is built on the premise that data should move across IT infrastructure so that it is in the right place, at the right time, for the right cost.

The account team proposed a capable, scalable storage solution that would grow in line with PM Group’s needs, irrespective of what direction the future business takes.

Following a visit to the Dell Solutions Innovation Centre in Limerick, PM chose the Dell Compellent infrastructure to meet its needs.

In addition to the Dell Compellent storage SAN, PM Group is relying on Dell Services, PowerEdge blade servers and PowerConnect networking solutions.

“Dell has transformed from a traditional hardware provider to a services and solutions company,” said Dermot O’Connell, GM, Dell Ireland.

“The work that we have completed with PM Group is a great example of that transformation in practice where we were able to tap into the growing range of skills that exist within our team.”
