Ireland has many of the ingredients required to become a world leader in the new green economy.
“The future is smart, whether it be about smart buildings, smart communities, smart energy use or smart business,” says Will Day, CEO and chairman of the Sustainable Development Commission in the UK, who will be in Ireland next week to speak at The Green Economy – A Business & Leadership Briefing.
“So, clearly the information technology communications (ICT) sector has a huge role to play in this,” he continues. “Anybody who is visionary in ICT is already looking at this sustainability and climate agenda as a golden opportunity, not as a threat.”
With eight out of 10 of the world’s largest ICT companies having bases in Ireland it’s all good news, says Barry O’Leary, chief executive of the IDA.
