Extra shoelace hole ‘trick’ video goes viral — Gigglebit

13 May 2015

At one point or another, we’ve all looked at our runners and asked ourselves the question, “what is that extra shoelace hole for”?

Well, it turns out that the extra shoelace holes on your running shoes can be used to create a ‘heel lock’ or ‘lace lock’ to make your shoe fit more snugly around your ankle, helping to prevent rubbing and stop blisters developing on your heel.

This is probably not news to you running aficionados out there, but it certainly seems to be news to most people on the internet, with a video on the topic by sports accessories retailer Illumiseen going mega-viral in the last week.

The two-minute video was uploaded on 16 April and, at time of writing, had clocked up more than 7.6m views on YouTube.
