Uber joins Hailo in offering free rides to polls for #MarRef

18 May 2015

Uber has become the latest ride-sharing company in Dublin to offer free rides for users on 22 May for the marriage referendum under the banner, Uber4Equality.

Last week, Hailo garnered significant attention by offering users of the app up to €15 in credit to allow people to travel to their polling stations to get their chance to vote in the referendum, which, if passed, will offer those in same-sex relationships the opportunity to marry.

Much like this offer, Uber has confirmed that its offer will be valid between 7am and 10pm on 22 May and will apply €15 credit on the outward and return trips.

To get the credit, users have to enter the promotional code ‘Uber4Equality’, which will then expire the following day.

Commenting on the promotion, general manager of Uber in Dublin, Kieran Harte, said: “Uber is a passionate supporter of equal rights for everyone in our community. This is an opportunity to make history, which can only be achieved by getting people out to vote. We hope our free trips can help make a difference.”
