Remember when Windows launches went like this?

Windows 10 launch went better than this...

There was a time, many moons ago, when major tech companies were not as sleek, cool and hip as they are today. That time was 2009.

Windows 10 launched this week and has, so far, seemed a success. Our very own John Kennedy reviewed it quite positively and, from looking around, many people are of a similar opinion.

The release was announced in advance, it’s a straightforward download and it’s free. Who doesn’t like free? Therefore Windows 10 = good.

Previous iterations of Windows, though, were less… slick. Windows 8, for example, gave many people nightmares – So. Many. Blocks.

But even that is nothing on Windows 7, which was when Microsoft was encouraging us to host a party.

It was far more ‘And what? A party?!’, than ‘and what a party!’

If Windows 10 is all about the now, Windows 7 was all about the when, exactly?
