Not quite spooky, Google's new interactive Halloween doodle is nevertheless addictive

Google has revealed its latest interactive doodle to celebrate Halloween in the form of a video game themed around the 2015 Global Candy Cup.

Very similar to Flappy Bird, the Google Doodle game, which you can play in your browser, lets you choose between four witch teams and you have to help a witch fly and collect as much gold and prizes by pressing on your mouse or on the screen with your finger.

The game, which is more fun than spooky, is quite addictive.

Halloween, also known as All Hallow’s Eve and linked to the ancient Irish festival of Samhain, falls tomorrow, 31 October, and, as well as marking the end of summer, is also dedicated to remembering the dead and is influenced by Celtic harvest festivals.

Among mysticists, Halloween was a liminal time when the boundaries between this world and the spirit world thinned and the dead walked the Earth.

Ancient Celts marked Halloween with bonfires and feasting, but the celebrations have evolved to include trick-or-treating, pumpkin carving, costume parties, apple bobbing, playing pranks and watching horror films.
