Could the new Game of Thrones teaser be any more grim?

One of the most popular TV shows in history is returning to screens in April, with a new Game of Thrones teaser released by HBO setting quite a grim tone.

While Netflix has House of Cards, Orange Is The New Black, BoJack Horseman and Narcos, HBO has Game of Thrones. That might sound a bit one-sided in Netflix’s favour, but HBO has Game of Thrones. There’s only one real winner.

So, when the teaser for the sixth season dropped a few hours ago, plenty of people took notice.

Game of Thrones’ popularity is such that it annually breaks its own record for being the most-pirated TV show in history. Each episode costs around $8m to produce, making it the second most expensive TV show around at the moment.

However, it’s money well spent, with millions of adoring fans anticipating the biggest season yet as the creators, presumably, move ever further away from the original Game of Thrones books.

In the latest teaser, we’re shown the Hall of Faces, with a bunch of Stark characters we haven’t seen in a while. Ned, Rob and Catelyn Stark’s famous words narrate over visions of their dead faces, with Joffrey making an appearance too.

The final scene is the remaining cast, with their faces adorning the wall. It’s mighty grim, but should be mighty fun.

Game of Thrones Season 6 will premiere on April 24 2016 on HBO.
