Well, it was a long time coming really, but Chelsea manager José Mourinho has been ditched by Chelsea after a horrid run of losses, but Twitter users appear to be delighted with the news.

Being just one point off the relegation places in the Barclays Premier League was unlikely to make Jose Mourinho’s Christmas a particularly festive one, but it seems now that it’s about to get a whole lot worse after it was confirmed that the man has been sacked from his job at Chelsea.

In what was his second spell at the club, successive defeats to Leicester City FC – who are top of the table, to be fair – and lowly southern club Bournemouth FC were considered a step too far.

For the last number of weeks, the sports press has been revelling in the man’s incredible demise given that his club won the league at a canter last year, but issues off the pitch such as the sacking of physio Eva Carneiro did little to help his image.

With accusations that the Chelsea dressing room had become ‘toxic’, with his players losing faith in his abilities, it seemed that this decision was more a case of when, rather than if. But, anyhow, we’re a tech website and sports analysis is not on my CV, but reading people’s reactions on Twitter only shows that there are for more people laughing at Mourinho, than offering their commiserations.

Some just go with the simple option

And of course, there had to be a Star Wars joke in here somewhere.
