Sci-fi fans of the 1990s will soon have reason to rejoice in the 2010s, as Fox brings back X-Files for a mini-series next year. The trailer, just released, sets the mood.
The six-episode mini-series returns after over 13 years out of the limelight, hitting the little screen in January next year.
Judging from the trailer, not much has changed. Fox Mulder is still chasing wacky, supernatural leads, Dana Scully is his reluctant sidekick, trying to pour crumbs of logic into bizarre storylines, and the US government is, as usual, up to no good.
Walter Skinner now sports a beard, because beards are in and, yes, William B Davis is back as the smoking man.
The original run of X-Files was from 1993-2002, with David Duchovny only intermittent by the end.
However, a reunion show demands the best, so he and Gillian Anderson reprise the main roles, with original series veterans Glen Morgan, Darin Morgan and James Wong writing some of the episodes.
