The White House Correspondents’ Dinner (WHCD) is an annual back-slapping knees-up for the US President and the posse of journalists who hang on his every move — as well as some celebrities — and it can be really funny, too.
One of the few times in a four-year term that the US head of state can actually have some fun in the full glare of the media, this year’s WHCD was no different, with Barack Obama and comedienne Cecily Strong nailing their speeches.
So much so that cuts are already going viral thanks, in large part, to an overly aggressive ‘anger translator’ hired by Obama.
Brought on to ‘translate’ his speech, the hired help stormed about stage yelling and screaming, until he was forced to calm down the irate president.
Here are Obama’s slights at Dick Cheney and Mike Huckabee.
And lastly his ‘bucket list’.
Of course, the guffawing at a president letting his hair down wears thin after a while, so Cecily Strong, from Saturday Night Live, was on hand to entertain the troops as well. And according to Twitter, she nailed it.
I’m sad that Cecily Strong doesn’t have a twitter because she’s my idol after #WHCD

Although not everybody was impressed.
I didn’t think Cecily Strong was particularly funny at the #WHCD am I the only one? #WHCD2015

Every time I bring up the Cecily Strong #WHCD video to watch it, I just can’t bring myself to press play.
