This week in viral videos, Earl Sinclair gets a Biggie makeover and US President Barack Obama appears on Kimmel’s mean tweets.

About 100 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute, Facebook videos receive more than 1bn views per day, and more than 700 YouTube videos are shared on Twitter each minute, ensuring there is always video trending on the web.

With so much video available for viewing, we take a look at some of the viral videos that have caught our eye this week.

Earl Sinclair performs Hypnotize by The Notorious BIG

Remember Dinosaurs? The early nineties sitcom about a family of anthropomorphic prehistoric creatures that lifted huge sections of The Simpsons way before Peter Griffin showed up? You could be forgiven if time had totally erased it from your memory. But Dinosaurs is firmly back in the public’s conscious with the release of this video mash-up, which sees the show’s protagonist Earl Sinclair perfectly miming the lyrics to the The Notorious BIG’s 1997 rap classic Hypnotize.

The attention to detail is stellar, from Earl’s buddy Roy Hess filling in for Puffy, to the dance sequences between dad and Baby Sinclair during the chorus. Even the choice of character and rapper to pair-up for the clip seems perfectly in-sync, with the husky Earl a good match for the larger-than-life Biggie.

Mean Tweets – President Obama Edition

One of the most popular comedy skits on US late night chat shown Jimmy Kimmel Live is Mean Tweets, which sees celebrities reading some of the most vitriolic Twitter posts about them, showing that even the rich and famous have feelings too.

For his appearance on the programme, President Obama took over the segment, reading out a series of tweets penned by users who have been less than impressed with their commander-in-chief.

In truth, most were actually pretty tame, but we did enjoy the irate user who posted, “A 30 rack of coors light is $23 now at Sun Stop. Thanks, Obama”. Now there’s a guy with his priorities straight.

It was a very happy birthday for one Cork mammy this week after her son arrived home from Australia for the big day.

Called into the room of another son, the woman was taken aback as the surprise guest was revealed to be lurking behind the door. Her reaction, which was captured on a smartphone, is one of undiluted joy.

#VoteWithUs Brighid and Paddy

An Irish couple who have been married for more than fifty years warmed hearts this week with a video pledging their support for marriage equality as part of the #VoteWithUS campaign.

Brighid and Paddy from Dundalk appealed for Irish people to vote yes in the upcoming referendum, admitting that their own stance has changed over the years.

“20 years ago I probably would have voted no but now that I know gay people I can see the love and the joy they bring to life. I will be voting yes,” said Paddy

Brighid added: “We wish other couples gay or straight could experience the love, protections and companionship that we have experienced.”

Godspeed, Brighid and Paddy.

Funky flight attendant

And finally, here’s a video of what must be the funkiest flight attendant to ever grace the skies. We’ve no idea of the context of this video, which sees the cabin crew member groove to Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk, but if all airlines could somehow work this into their pre-flight safety instructions, we’re pretty sure they wouldn’t be ignored.
