Through its Helping Hands programme, Amgen enables its staff to give back to the community through a variety of initiatives.

Amgen uses cutting-edge science and technology to improve the lives of those who suffer from serious diseases.

However, the pharma giant doesn’t just help its consumers with its products. Siliconrepublic.com headed down to Amgen Dún Laoghaire to find out about the Helping Hands programme, the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.

“CSR is an integral part of what we do here,” said Laoise O’Murchu. “Our mission is to serve patients but it’s not just the medicines we manufacture, it’s how we make a positive impact in the community.

“We attract a staff who are really interested in giving back to the community and are interested in making a difference for others, both within their work and outside the walls of Amgen,” she said. “They really understand the fantastic opportunity they have to give back and they participate wholeheartedly in our Helping Hands programme.”
