DCU’s Dr Anne Looney made the case for teachers being the key to unlocking a society of innovators at Inspirefest 2018.

If society wants to survive and thrive, the number of innovators has to rise in accordance with the level of change that groundbreaking inventions such as AI and blockchain will bring on.

Dr Anne Looney, the dean of education at Dublin City University (DCU), told the Inspirefest 2018 audience that the secret weapon in doing this is one that is often overlooked: teachers.

As the shapers of young minds, teachers are instrumental in childhood development. In turn, how we shape these teachers needs to be structured in such a way to ensure that every teacher entering an educational institution today is one that will bring about the world we want tomorrow.
