Adapt centre researcher Dr Conor McGinn joined the virtual Future Human 2020 conference to present a keynote on the future of robotics.

Dr Conor McGinn is the founder of Akara Robotics, the Dublin-based team behind healthcare robots Stevie and Violet.

Stevie is a social care robot that has been trialled in senior care facilities in the UK and the US. These trials had to be put on hold due to Covid-19 restrictions, however the pandemic led the team to develop Violet.

Violet is a robot that can autonomously navigate spaces and disinfect them using ultraviolet light, with recent tests indicating a success rate of up to 99pc.
