Whose responsibility is it to tackle disinformation?
Dr Jane Suiter, director of Dublin City University’s Institute for Future Media and Journalism, joined Kinzen co-founders Mark Little and Áine Kerr on a panel led by Silicon Republic’s former editor, John Kennedy, at Inspirefest 2019.
Suiter, Little and Kerr discussed the work that needs to be done going forward, in order to protect internet users from disinformation and equip them with the skills they need to recognise disinformation and minimise the damage that could potentially be caused by it.
According to the panel, some kind of committee akin to the World Health Organisation needs to be set up to solve the these problems, because disinformation should be treated as seriously as any other health crisis, according to Little.
