Two transition year students from Loreto Secondary School in Balbriggan, Dublin were crowned winners of the 52nd BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition at the RDS.
Maria Louise Fufezan (16) and Diana Bura (15) were stunned to win the competition on their first time entering, but their project was singled out as the best of 550 contenders.
Fufezan and Bura began their research last September and even spent much of their Christmas holidays investigating the impact of enzymes in animal feed on nematodes in the soil.
