More than 20 awards were handed out at this year’s ESB Creative Tech Fest in Dublin, honouring young people in STEAM.

17-year-old Alicia O’Sullivan of the YMCA in Cork was named as the ESB TechSpacer of the year at ESB Creative Tech Fest 2018. Called ‘I Care’, her digital creativity project reflects her passion for social advocacy. For her efforts, she received a cheque for €500 to invest in her project as well as a year-long mentorship programme from ESB.

O’Sullivan’s award was one of more than 20 awards handed out on the day for an event that celebrates the creations and inventions of young people aged between 10 and 18 from a number of youth clubs across the country.

As well as the exhibition, talks and workshop, entertainment on the day came from multi-instrumentalist and rising Irish electronic artist Daithí Ó Drónaí and contemporary trad pop band Tógra, former TechSpacers who performed bilingually.
