Young Ukrainian pianist and EY intern Yaroslav Bilous gave the audience a special performance and talked about his arrival in Ireland.

Future Human, the international sci-tech event from Silicon Republic, opened in May with a very special performance.

Yaroslav Bilous took to the piano for a rendition of River Flows in You by South Korean composer Yiruma, and explained that it was the piece that encouraged him all the time he was learning to play.

Silicon Republic CEO Ann O’Dea thanked the young Ukrainian for his performance, calling it a “mindful moment” for everyone. Afterwards, he joined O’Dea for a chat about his recent arrival in Ireland from his native Kyiv.

“It was three days before my birthday, and my father and mother said just go out of the country because they won’t let you out then,” he said.

Bilous went to Poland first, before choosing Ireland as his English is better than his Polish. He was then able to work remotely for EY Ukraine in IT risk detection.

“Ukrainians are all over the world and they can take some experience, take some networks so that we can rebuild our country faster and better than it was,” he added.
