As mobile traffic moves increasingly towards a video-centric model, jobs in video development come to the fore.
Video is currently growing in popularity as a medium, particularly over mobile – a significant proportion of mobile traffic is devoted to video. With trends moving in that direction, it becomes increasingly important to ensure that video offerings continue to evolve.
That evolution will require significant research and development, delving into ways to improve video technologies.
Huawei intends to do just that. After announcing 60 video researcher jobs earlier this year, the tech giant is hoping to attract researchers to Ireland – and draw on indigenous talent – to fill them.
At a recent event hosted by the Adapt Centre for Digital Content Technology and sponsored by Huawei, we caught up with Derek Collins, director of the Huawei Ireland Research Centre, to find out more about the roles on offer.
