In the sixth episode of The Leaders’ Room season two, we spoke to Stryker’s VP of global additive technologies, Mag O'Keeffe.
The Leaders’ Room podcast features interviews with the country managers of some of Ireland’s leading sci-tech multinationals. It was created in partnership with IDA Ireland.
Episode six of season two features Mag O’Keeffe, VP of global additive technologies at medtech giant Stryker.
Speaking to Ann O’Dea, O’Keeffe talked about the importance of creating an environment that is “risk-tolerant”, which also requires psychological safety and resilience.
“Risk tolerance means it’s safe to take risks, you’re not going to get fired if you do something wrong. Psychological safety means people feel secure in expressing ideas or taking chances. Resilience, which I’ve spoken about already, is the ability to keep going when things don’t work out,” she said.
“When you combine those three, you create an environment where people bring their best selves to work, and they’ll be really creative.
“If you have an environment that’s risk-tolerant, you celebrate the success when you level up. When you level up, you end up with really innovative technologies and really good products for the patient.”
