The 2016 election of US president Donald Trump ushered in a new era of commentary for cartoonists. How does Liza Donnelly weather the political storm?

From the Kavanaugh hearings to the Mueller report, cartoonist Liza Donnelly feels that Trump’s presidency has brought with it a black cloud that now hovers atop the White House.

Her role is to illustrate this disruption and be a voice for the public, reflecting their emotions on the sketchpad. It’s not always easy but, luckily, Donnelly is an optimist.

“I believe there have been times in the history of our country where things have been almost as bad as this, so I have hope that we’re going to pull through this. This constitutional crisis will right itself and we’ll be back on track.”
