There are many reasons one may have a sizeable gap on their CV and many of these were shared at a networking event devised by Mastercard Ireland’s Women’s Leadership Network, ahead of International Women’s Day.

The event, which was hosted at Dogpatch Labs, explored the highs and lows of career breaks and returning to work, and offered insights for employers considering returnships and programmes to enable flexible and remote working.

Gary Lawson, talent acquisition lead at Mastercard Ireland, spoke to us about the Relaunch your Career returnship programme, how it helped source impressive applicants for high-level roles, and plans for its expansion across Mastercard worldwide.

“There’s so much untapped talent out there,” he said of his experience recruiting for the 12-week programme.
