A discussion on mental health literacy at Inspirefest 2019 prompted some ideas on how to address the issue at work.

The Inspirefest 2019 Mental Health Literacy panel featured Laurent de Saint Sernin, general manager of commercial operations at Janssen Sciences Ireland; Nicole Owens, Dublin Senior Ladies football player; and Dr Lee Motherway, consultant psychiatrist at St Vincent’s Hospital.

Chaired by Elaine Burke of Silicon Republic, this discussion started with an explanation of the difference between mental health and mental illness from Motherway. De Saint Sernin then explained how both Janssen and parent company Johnson & Johnson addresses mental health as an employer, while Owens relayed her own personal experience with mental illness.
