We met the team behind Saylists, a project that uses music playlists to improve speech therapy for children.

A recent initiative at Rothco, a Dublin-based agency that’s part of Accenture Interactive, looked at a creative way to augment speech and language therapy for children.

“It’s based on the principle that repetition is a key factor in speech therapy,” explained Rothco creative director Rob Maguire. “Repetition happens in popular music all the time, so we asked could singing along help with practising your problem sounds.”

Working with specialist speech and language therapist Anna Biavati-Smith, Maguire and his team developed Saylists – a collection of playlists on Apple Music that could help with the repetition of difficult syllables, words and phrases.
