As Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) released its annual report for 2018, we spoke with director general Prof Mark Ferguson about Ireland’s recent research successes and the agency’s focus for the future.

Prof Mark Ferguson told Siliconepublic.com, “Science Foundation Ireland is investing in the future of young people and children in Ireland whether it’s through their education, whether it’s through possible businesses, or whether it’s through the planet that you live on.”

With the publication of its 2018 annual report, the national agency celebrated a year of collaboration and achievement.

According to the report, for every €1 invested by the State in SFI research centres, €5 was returned to the Irish economy.
