Think it’s too late to pursue your dream job in software engineering? Think again.

While some people launch right into a software engineering career, others can take the scenic route. Take Patrick Butterly, for example. While he is currently a senior software engineer at Liberty IT, his first career choice was in marketing.

“After a little while, I realised that really wasn’t what I wanted to do or where I wanted to be, and I got the opportunity to retrain in software and I took it,” he said.

“There’s no wrong time to start. I’ve known people who started retraining in software when they were in their 60s and they just love it.”
