Siliconrepublic.com headed down to NIBRT to speak to some of the major players in biopharma and find out the most important traits of a potential employee.

While technical skills play a key role in making a biopharma candidate stand out, they are not the only thing that matters. In fact, many of the biggest brands in biopharma say that soft skills are even more critical.

Allergan’s Conor O’Neill said that soft skills such as being able to communicate and being a team player are important. “Obviously you have to have the technical skills too, that will come with your education,” he said. “But it’s the life skills really that I’d be looking for when I’m hiring people.”

Meanwhile, WuXi Biologics’ Thomas Yue said you need to have a big heart and really care to succeed in the biopharma industry.
